The short version

There is no analytics, no advertising, no tracking pixels, no session recording and no cookies set by this site. Nothing is collected about you unless you type it into the contact form or into the assistant. Two things you send are stored: contact enquiries, and messages you send to the assistant.

The contact form

If you submit the form, these are stored: your name, email address and description of the problem, which are required, plus company and approximate volume if you fill them in. Your browser's user-agent string is stored alongside them to help identify automated abuse.

This is used to reply to you and, if we go on to work together, to scope the engagement. It is not sold, rented or shared with third parties for marketing, and it is not added to a mailing list. There is no mailing list.

Enquiries are held in a database on infrastructure operated by AdeptOps, and kept for as long as the enquiry is commercially relevant, up to a maximum of 24 months. Ask and they will be deleted sooner.

The assistant

The assistant on this site is called Nox. If you send it a message, both your message and its reply are stored, along with a randomly generated session identifier that groups one visit's messages together. That identifier is created in your browser, is not linked to you, and does not persist after you close the page.

Messages are stored so that gaps and mistakes can be reviewed and corrected. They are kept for a maximum of 12 months.

Your messages are sent to Anthropic, whose model generates the reply. Anthropic processes them as a data processor in order to return an answer. Do not paste confidential documents, personal data about other people, credentials, or anything you would not want leaving your organisation into the assistant. It is a website assistant, not a secure channel.

The animated graphic on the site runs entirely in your browser and sends nothing anywhere.

Addresses and abuse prevention

Both the contact form and the assistant are rate limited per IP address to prevent abuse. Your IP address is held in memory for up to one minute for that purpose and is never written to disk or stored in any database by AdeptOps.

Like any web server, the hosting and network providers below process your IP address and request headers to deliver the page.

Who else is involved

• Anthropic

  Provides the model behind the assistant. Receives the messages you send it. United States.

• Cloudflare

  Provides DNS and the network in front of the site and the assistant. Processes connection metadata including your IP address.

• Google Fonts

  Typefaces are requested from Google's font servers, so your browser contacts Google and Google receives your IP address and user-agent. If you would rather this did not happen, a content blocker will stop it and the site still works.

• The hosting provider

  Serves the static pages. Processes your IP address and user-agent to deliver them.

Nothing you send is used to train any AI model, by AdeptOps or by anyone else.

Your rights

Wherever you are, you can ask what is held about you, ask for it to be corrected, and ask for it to be deleted. Email josh@adeptops.dev and it will be handled within 30 days, usually much sooner.

If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, the lawful basis for handling contact enquiries is legitimate interest in responding to someone who has asked to be contacted, and for assistant messages it is legitimate interest in operating and improving the service. You may object to either. Data is processed in the United States.

If you are a California resident, AdeptOps does not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined by the CCPA, and you will never be treated differently for exercising any right described here.

Children

This site is aimed at businesses and is not directed at children under 16. If you believe a child has sent information through it, email josh@adeptops.dev and it will be deleted.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. There is no archive of previous versions; if you need one for your records, keep a copy.
